Having A Blast

West Midland Safari Park have appointed Mulberry GBC as principal contractor for the installation of services and infrastructure works at their new 8 acre safari lodges, giraffe house and rhino yard site. Services carried out by Mulberry included road and footpath construction, water main diversion, storm water, foul water, bio disc installation and electricity feed ducts into the new safari lodges.

When it came to choosing large rocks across the site, Mulberry suggested a value engineered solution using granite sourced from a local quarry to provide a long term solution to any issues of water erosion. A site visit was arranged by Mulberry to Bardon Hill quarry for the Safari Park’s creation team which was led by Richard Allen and Natalie Harrison of Aggregate Industries. The visit included a tour of the quarry in 4 wheel drive vehicles and guests were shown varying rock seams, blasting platforms and the process of conveying aggregates from rock face to asphalt and concrete plants.
